Pima Youth Vote is a project of the Cradle to Career Partnership, based at United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, that is dedicated to getting the vote out to Opportunity Youth in Pima County, individuals 16 - 25 who are not in school or working. As one of the most vulnerable populations, it is essential that their voice is heard so they can engage in the political processes and enact policies that affect their lives.
Being young does not make one less of a citizen. Being poor does not strip one of their right to have a say in the direction of their country. Yet, for thousands of our neighbors, conditions exist which have effectively denied them access to the democratic process. Policies are being created and enacted to maintain those barriers, while simultaneously degrading the quality of debate in our community and restricting our ability to engage the next generation of voters. The goal of Pima Youth Vote is to reverse that trend in Southern Arizona. We will educate and inspire thousands of youth from underserved communities to take action toward change through engagement in the electoral process.
